Anti-Virus software is created by a number of software companies around the world. They are available for a number of different operating systems.

An anti-virus software package usually consists of a scanning program and a real-time protection feature. Both are needed for effective virus protection.

The lists below contain all of the anti-virus software products I was aware of in March 1997. The list is hopelessly out of date now but will be updated soon to include products released since the list was initially compiled as well as shareware and freeware anti-virus products. In the meantime, see the current list of ICSA (formerly NCSA) certified products on the ICSA Certification page.
